Car warning light turns on day of purchase
Options
Hello
I purchased a car today from a very large car dealership. The journey home was fine but later the car engine light turn yellow. The after care team don't work Sundays so I will need to phone them on Monday.
I was wondering what are my options? Could I return the car?
I have purchased a warranty with them but was looking to cancel this but surely any fault arising on the day of purchase needs to be sorted by the garage.

I think you need to find out what warning light is illuminated ( check handbook) it could be something like a low screenwash warning in which case, topping up will extinguish it..0

Hello its
Emission control system fault emission limits exceeded. No idea if this is serious or not.0 -
Is it a diesel? Sounds like a DPF blockage.0

Why do you need to return it? Just ask for a copy of the last diagnostics they did on it or a screen shot from their prep checks on the car and date when they were done. Don't think you need to give it back - brand new cars can have a light on, just happens sometimes.0

if you are happy with their response - then let them fix it - and give you a car - if you are not happy with their response - which will be fine by the way - there are lots of rights you have - but don't threaten or anything at this stage. Just unfortunate.0
