All I understand is that consumers have been ripped off for decades, let alone this year, and that there is no real competition in the market and possibly cartel pricing at the international level.I suggest mass consumer protest on April 1st by turning the gas off at the meter.0

The problem is that you do not understand, you think you do, but you don't. In the UK we have had relatively cheap energy for decades, cheaper than every other country in Western Europe, the margins on the energy we use at home have never been high, they have topped out at around 4.5%, they average around 2%, they are currently loss making. The reality is however that when you take into account the climate impact, energy has been far too cheap for far too long.wrf12345 said:All I understand is that consumers have been ripped off for decades,
We have not been "ripped off" this year, we are actually paying less than cost.wrf12345 said:let alone this year
There was competition in the supply market before hand, however then energy cap killed that and broke the market entirely. If you want competition, as well as mains gas and electricity you also have the option of LPG (via small bottle or large tank), fuel oil, biomass, solar PV, wind etc. The reality is however that mains gas and electricity are still considerably cheaper for almost everyone.wrf12345 said:and that there is no real competition in the market
Everyone knows OPEC is a cartel, everyone knows Russia is using gas supplies as a political weapon, none of that means your UK based energy supplier is ripping you off.wrf12345 said:and possibly cartel pricing at the international level.
Ok, you do that, it will have zero impact other than you might run out of hot water for the day and have to cook using the microwave. The fact that you suggest April Fool's day is very apt.wrf12345 said:I suggest mass consumer protest on April 1st by turning the gas off at the meter.1
