Curry’s warranty
I have recently noticed that a fee of £2.50 per month has been coming out of my bank account and after further investigation have found it is from Curry’s ‘Whatever Happens’ extended warranty scheme.
It turns out this is for a video camera I bought in 2011 that was on an endless rolling contract. I have spent over £300 on this warranty and have never received any communication from them asking my permission to renew, or making me aware that I am still paying for this. I have never made a claim as I didn’t even realise that I was paying for the ‘care plan.’
Is there any way that I would be able to get this money back?

I doubt it, in the same way that you don't get any other sort of insurance premium repaid simply because you don't make a claim. I don't see any need for Curry's to remind you that you're still paying for it, they're entitled to assume that if you're still paying, you still want the cover.
Surely you had looked at your bank statements some time in the past decade?0 -
If it was a rolling contract, it doesn't renew in the normal sense, so it's down to you to cancel when you no longer need it.
No harm in asking Currys for a partial refund, but you're not entitled to one. A good lesson to check your banking statements regularly. 10 years is way too long to leave it. Monthly or at least quarterly is sensible.0 -
Is the video camera still working?Beth1808 said:HelloI have recently noticed that a fee of £2.50 per month has been coming out of my bank account and after further investigation have found it is from Curry’s ‘Whatever Happens’ extended warranty scheme.

You could still claim if it has gone faulty. Did the policy include accidental damage cover also?0 -
No, you’re not - WEH policies run on a continuous basis and it’s your job to keep an eye on old direct debits you no longer need. And no; I don’t work for them

As a certain M Lewis is fond of telling people each year... Check your bank account for payments you do not need....Beth1808 said:HelloI have recently noticed that a fee of £2.50 per month has been coming out of my bank account and after further investigation have found it is from Curry’s ‘Whatever Happens’ extended warranty scheme.

Good new it is only £300 & not £3000....
And before you ask. No you can't claim it back from your bank. You could try currys 👀Life in the slow lane0
