Morning all, the sun is trying to break through the clouds but it is very damp and mizzly outside.
I managed to knock off a few "to do's" off my list yesterday but have now added a couple more to the end, it's a never ending circle. I thought I might have a day of semi-sloth too, just to keep the lovely Camelot company 😁 unfortunately the dw needs my attention first though and the kitchen wiping down. I also have a big pack of bacon to split and then freeze, then I think it may be jigsaw time, I tried to do some yesterday but the natural light was poor and the electric light gave off too many shadows 😏
Hope everyone has a goodish day whatever you're doing. Hugs to the poorly ones, hope your symptoms are mild and pass swiftly. Sending healing vibes to all the relatives in hospital.
Take care all

Morning folks and thanks Scarlet. I'm a latecomer as I got the bus into town as usual for a Saturday morning. Very little needed. Just us 3 musketeers going down and the same coming back. Town was unusually quiet.
We have the yellow warning for wind until Monday night. It's horrendous and all I can say is I dread to think what it's like for those with the amber warning. I nearly got blown past the bus stop going down!I hate wind and the damage it can cause. A wheelie on the end had blown over and there is rubbish blowing everywhere. Being on the corner I get all the rubbish blowing in my garden from up, down and all along.
I have guests from lunchtime for a sleepover.! The 2 youngest DGDs are staying over. Pre-Covid all 3 were here for sleepovers up to 3 times a week but these days it's just occasionally. That'll put serious dents in the freezers! I needn't tell you what has been requested for tea! I wonder if and when they will ever tire of it! The Bolognese is simmering gently away in readiness.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies and poorly loved ones. CAMELOT I hope your symptoms are mild. Being bored is better than feeling poorly. NRA thinking of you and your DDad. JACKIE I hope your SIL is making an uneventful recovery. It sounds a nasty operation that she has had. Take care one and all and stay safe xx

Have managed to do a little more today. One load of washing and a chicken casserole in the slow cooker.. Now I need a nap!
Weather chilly and overcast but nothing like you are experiencing further North.9 -
Hi all
Firmly in the amber weather warning zone here so blowing a proper hoolie outside though it's lessened a little in the last couple of hours. Nipped out to the SM this morning for a few odds and ends but firmly tucked up at home now for the rest of the day and no need to go out tomorrow either. Just as well, as we've got another weather warning for wind tomorrow as well.....
Cod and veg for tea tonight and treated myself to some clotted cream and scones - been a tough work week and I deserve a treat!!
Sending best wishes to those who are poorly or worrying about poorlies.
Have a lovely weekend

Hello chums ,golly its breezy today ,just nipped out to post a birthday card and a get-well card to my lovely sis-in-law Val who is reovering in hospital from her op.I spoke to the nurse this morning and she said she had a reasonably comfortable night once they sorted out her pain medications. She's 75 this Tuesday bless her and the hospital have said her daughter can go in to see her as she is her next of kin ,so Dawn (her daughter) will let me know how she's progressing I have everything crossed for her
I never went in the shops though (I live about three minutes from a small shopping precinct) as I am not in any need of anything at the moment. The freezer is slowly reducing and I'm hoping to get it defrosted by the end of February .
Dropped Jack and Mikey off at their respective part time weekend jobs this morning .It saves their busfares as the buses are quite expensive around here and the cash they earn isn't great. Jack starts his placement for 6 weeks on the 7th February. its weird because his placement will be at his elder brother Bens old grammar school. Ben told him which teachers to avoidMikey did a mock 'A 'level photograhy exam this week. He is hoping to study film and photography at Uni in September he's had three offers so far from 'Uni clearing' but nothing from the one he really wants yet .
Right time for a cuppa to revive me a bit after my blustrery walk, keep safe and warm chums .
I read online that the US eastern coast is in for a super storm, !! we usually get their weather 7-10 days later. Perhaps we will all be battening down the hatches. I think my grandson Danny who lives in Manhattan will be glad to stay in the warm. His apartments heating is included in the rent which I think is a great deal, also his air conditioning during their sweltering heat of the summer.
My other sis-in-law is in Mexico at the moment for 6 weeks visiting my niece who lives there I spoke to her yeasterday and she said it was a very pleasant 24c, she has been told to bring some of the sun home by the end of February in her suitcase

Afternoon all, virtual hugs for the poorlies, worried, plain fed ups etc.
Weather today is fine, sunny but oh so windy courtesy of Storm Malik. Bins blowing over, rubbish flying up the road, a couple of houses with blown down fences and more to come over the weekend. We have our bedroom window open all year round, just a small bit in winter, but I had to get up and close it last night - I thought the curtains were going to come off the rail!
Easy day meal-wise today: poached egg & beans on toast for brekkie, cheese on crackers & grapes for lunch, a mug of hm tomato & red pepper soup with a corned beef & tomato sandwich for tea. I've taken a box of sliced beef in gravy out of the freezer for tomorrow's dinner but still need to do the coming week's meal plan. Barring some fresh milk, I shouldn't need any shopping this week as there's still plenty to go at from the freezer and cupboards.
Getting near the end of the month now so this weekend I'll be doing my Feb & Mar budget/banking spreadsheets in readiness for the inevitable bills through the letterbox for the coming financial year. Not looking forward to those (not that I ever do) because I don't think this year's pension increase will be over generous now the G'ment has reneged on the triple lock promise. On the bright side, no CT or water bills for the next 2 months and the TV licence has been frozen.
Afternoon coffee time now so I'll wish you all a safe and satisfying rest of the weekend. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.7 -
Evening all,
Very late one from me as we’ve been celebrating DS2s 18th birthday. Had a lovely lunch with the family at The Barnyard (JackieO knows this place). He’s gone out tonight with DD and her friends to Spoons and a club. Poor lad is working tomorrow at the Golden Arches, so hope he can stand up straight!
We were lucky enough to get his signet ring from the jeweller yesterday so he was able to open it this morning. He was very fortunate to receive £450 in cash from relatives and a cheque from Scott!sh Friendly for a child bond we took out when he was born. We’ve paid in £25 a month and he received just over £7k. We have an appointment at the bank next week for him to open an adult account.
Hope all those experiencing bad weather stay safe. Hugs to all the poor lies too.CoxyCross-stitch WIP: Fiver Friday challenge 2025 founding member 😊 Read 25 books in 2025 11/25 Currently reading The Cliff House by Amanda Jennings6
