Estimated Opening Reading

  •  THis forum is littered with whinges and moans from those  who couldn't be bothered to read their meters , or check their bills  and who are now suffering the consequences of their idleness.

What sort of valid case do you think you've got - "I was bone idle and too busy and I expected them to to be clairvoyant m'lud."

How  did you expect BG or PE to know how much you'd used or what your meter readings were if you didn't send them a meter reading. They had to guess, and TBH it's not their fault if they were miles out.
You have absolutely no idea of my circumstances at the end of last year. I didn't ask for a lecture on the proper habits of reading my meter and if you read my replies would see I fully admit it was my fault for falling behind.

I asked a specific question on using an estimated figure for a new contract and whether that figure could be challenged.
If lambasting people on a an energy forum is how you overcome your shortcomings in real life I really do pity you.

The key points are that the closing estimate used by the failed supplier for the final bill should be the same as the opening estimate used by the new supplier. If this is not the case a dispute can be started.
Meter readings should be provided regularly to the new supplier to ensure ongoing bills are accurate.

@LikeItLoveIt Can you read your meter today please and also let us have the Estimated Opening and Last Reads from BG together the last Estimated (have you had a final bill) from PE. Then we will be able at least to determine how accurate that £900 is.

Have you sent BG the reading that others suggested yesterday ?
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill
