Had our Economy 7 meter replaced with a smart meter from Eon Next.
The smart meter seems to be on single rate tariff. Can I get eon to move me to Economy 7 with the same smart meter? Or is the economy 7 smart meter completely different?
The installed meter is Landis+Gyr E470 ( the one with button A and

Have you scrolled through the screens to see if there is an off-peak (R2) rate showing?

Pretty much every smart meter is capable of multi-rate support, you don't need a special meter. We had that exact meter with E7.You will hear mention of 5-port smart meters for E7, although not necessary, they do have a built in contactor for load switching when you have something like night storage heaters, but even with a 4 port meter like the one you have it can be done using and external contactor switched via the ALCS connection built into the meter.

All smart meters have 4 registers capable of recording usage in 30 minute blocks. E.oN Next is using a billing platform developed by Kraken Technologies ( a part of the Octopus Energy Group). I have no idea how E.oN Next is billing with the Kraken system. Octopus, however, is using 30 minute usage data for all smart tariff billing not index readings. It follows that my 2-price tariff uses a single register.ispookie666 said:Had our Economy 7 meter replaced with a smart meter from Eon Next.

Thank you all.
I have contacted Eon Next via email. Will see what excuse they come up with.
Is there a lock in period after installing smart meter?
I had solar panels installed a few days ago - if they are not yet MCS registered is there any point in looking at Export units and Net Import units?“Don't raise your voice, improve your argument." - Desmond Tutu

There is no lock in period with smart meters. If you are looking to claim SEG payments for your solar exports then you will need a smart meter which is configured for two MPANs: one for import and the other for export. From recent personal experience with Octopus, they will want to see the MCS Certificate and the DNO approval for your system before they will apply to the DNO for an export MPAN.ispookie666 said:Thank you all.
