We don't know where we caught it in April as son had it first but school say no one there had any symptoms so maybe hubby caught at work but son I'll first as he has special needs... either way all 3 if us were down badly for 4 days and eldest 2 kids took care of themselves and pets for those 4 days including going to work and school and luckily wasn't ill themselves5

I managed to avoid catching it until November last year. This is our second round of it.
Have also lost people we know, one of whom was early 30s. And I've lost clients to it as well, and some of them have lost friends and/or siblings. And one of my best friends mum was in ICU with it, they said goodbye via video call at one point, but she rallied and ultimately pulled through. She had to live in assisted living for a year afterwards to fully recover. She was only 60 at the time.
It's astounding that you've never met someone who's had it. Are you sure it's not just a case of them never testing?
The neighbour right across from us has had it at least 4 times now. I'm actually at the point where I don't think I know anyone who has never had it.February wins: Theatre tickets7 -

Maybe it never got to Lincolnshire.
several folk have tested positive over the last couple of years but luckily no one critically ill.
A couple got a nasty dose and that came from Grimsby hospital a few months ago.
Noticed people wearing masks today when out shopping.Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

@Longwalker - My freezer also seems to have more coming out than going in and today I've had a tidy up and now have wriggle room, everything is in the drawers where I want it to be and I even have a list of all the accumulated "bits" that need using. I'll use two h/m potato cakes (on a breakfast plate), a bag of sliced leeks (leek & potato soup), a few chopped red peppers, broccoli stems, a small amount of sweetcorn and peas (a minestrone type soup) and half a tin of coconut milk (probably a rice pudding). I'm OK for cooked sliced meats/h/m ready meals and bread/morning goods but definitely need some fish for a bit of variety as well as chicken and mince.
I had planned a chicken curry for tonight but changed my mind in favour of chicken, bacon & mushroom in a creamy sauce. The bacon was another use-up - one piece left from a pack of cooking bacon, the sauce from a packet in the cupboard and the mushroom (stalks) from the fridge. The curry would have made just one meal whereas the alternative will make enough for tonight and the rest can be frozen for a pasta bake later. I'm always looking for ways of stretching stuff as far as I can.
This weekend I'll be doing a grocery list for delivery next week. Apart from the essentials and freezer stuff I'll be looking at stocking up on tins of veg, pulses and possibly tins of fruit depending on price. I definitely don't need flour, pasta, rice, jams or chutneys!
@mumf - I hope it isn't too long before your disability benefits are sorted out.6 -
One of our old neighbours was convinced by his son not to have the jabs - don't know what's in it, was his argument. He caught it and passed away.Somebody I know his wife is suffering badly with long covid. She's a head teacher and has been signed off work since early in the year. They went to watch a football match a few weeks back, she was in bed for two days completely exhausted afterwards.Touch wood neither me or my husband have knowingly had it, but almost everybody else we know has. I was in contact with a lot of people when volunteering at the vac clinics so have had every vaccine I was offered.Make £2025 in 2025

I’ve never had it. I’ve an adjustment in place at work, allowing me my own space rather than the normal shared spaces. My mum is in hospital at the moment and patients have tested positive on her ward. I discovered this through the social work team, who were reading mum’s notes and mentioned they’d have masked up had they known. The ward sister apologised for forgetting to tell me! Some staff are wearing masks, but not all.10

Ive never caught it ,but then I rarely catch a cold as I have low immunity and stay away from crowded places during ti coughs and colds season. Keep out of people reach when they are poorly
Even avoid my family to make sure I keep well.

Good to read that SW staff are masking. The ward should have masks & notices at the door though.8

I’ve never had it (unless I’ve had it and been asymptomatic), but almost everyone I know has at least once, often twice - family members, colleagues etc. Even though my mum lives rurally, works from home and doesn’t have a big social life she’s had it twice! I feel fortunate though that I don’t know anyone who’s passed away with it, even my 86 year old grandfather got through it fine.Weirdly when my 7yo caught it last year nobody else in the family did (we tested daily). So he’s the only one in our household of four who has had it. I struggled to keep his temperature down the first day but he was alright after that.Part time working mum | Married in 2014 | DS born 2015 & DD born 2018
