Not too bad had cardio clinic appointment this morning and nurse fairly happy and says once my echo has been done in a couple of weeks she's hoping that i won't need beta blockers so that's positive I have had AF all my long life and its still working ok as I'm still alive and kicking.
I was going have a mooch around the local shops but it was so hot and airless I decided as I really didn't need anything urgently I'd be better off at home by the fan.I know folk love the warm weather, but I'm not one of them, once its over 20c I'm no good to man nor beast.
Just sitting drinking a peppermint tea, which I'm not enthusiastic about, but its at least caffeine free. Got a small cottage pie for dinner tonight dug from the freezer, and defrosting in the kitchen so a quick zap in the microwave means no slaving over a hot stove for me
One of my DGS dropped in yesterday and earthed up my second crop of spuds for me and watered them as well bless him. I have a row of Wiljas, and a row of Charlottes in at the moment.
Roll on Tuesday when a bit of rain is due it will freshen up the air a bit hopefully

London_1 I love Charlotte potatoes - year before last I planted some to harvest at Christmas and they were lovely. Glad that cardio clinic was positive. I lurk a lot here but get a lot from reading everyone’s posts11

I am very behind with the thread! Apologies!
I got a Too good to go bag from yeo valley on Sunday, and one from Ubley (both collections at same place). Omg, I got soooo much amazing yoghurt! All dated until 2nd or 3rd October. Their bags are due to packaging imperfections, rather than stock that hasn't sold. I was so chuffed!
And on the way home, I stopped at Tesco, just as they had put out a cage full of back to school supplies reduced to literal pennies! We're talking lunch boxes for 88p, notebooks for 13p, small sellotaped for 3p, packs of nice pens for 38p (and much much more). I got loads of stuff, for us, for MIL, for other school mums. It was great.
And tonight....I tested the fresh yeast that I packaged well and shoved in the freezer in 2020 (and honestly forgot about). I thought for sure that the yeast was done for......but not so! When mixed with sugar and water, it bubbled and foamed. Hurrah! I made the dough, and it rose. Double hurrah! It's in the oven as I type, so fingers crossed for a lovely loaf!February wins: Theatre tickets16 -
On last week's grocery delivery I'd ordered a single courgette and received an absolutely huge one.
Not necessarily our favourite veg but I wasn't going to waste it! Some has gone into a pan of chunky veg soup and some I've grated and used in a dozen courgette & cheese muffins. We'll have a couple of those with the soup and the rest can be frozen. There's still a bit of courgette left (!) but I'll deal with that tomorrow when I make a ratatouille style tray bake that will also take care of some past-their-best cherry tomatoes and a red onion that needs using. No aubergine though!
I've also rescued half a small swede that was going a bit soft - now peeled and diced and living in a tub of cold water in the fridge. I have a feeling there'll be some corned beef hash left from today's dinner; if so that can go in a pie dish and be topped with potato & swede mash for tomorrow's main meal. If not, I'll cook the swede with some carrot for a veg side on another day.
Be kind to others and to yourself too.10 -
Oh dear, there wasn't any corned beef hash left - must have been wishful thinking on my part
- so tonight's dinner will be sausage, mash, swede & carrot. Never mind, we'll enjoy that just as much.
I've made the ratatouille with the last of the courgette, some past-their-best cherry tomatoes, half a red pepper and a red onion, plus a dollop of tomato puree and some herbs and it tastes very good. There should be enough for a portion for the fridge and another for the freezer.
I'm also feeling very pleased with myself that I've worked my way through a list of store cupboard items that were either past their BB date or getting near to it. Practically everything has been used, barring a few things like baking essences, cocoa powder and some chicken gravy granules that will all be fine. I think many of these purchases were made during lockdown shortages when it was a question of getting what you could rather than what you'd normally buy; some I'd buy again and others not.

I found 4 pint bottles of whipping cream in Morrisons at the weekend, for £1 each. So I bought 2 and am turning them into butter. I also used some to make a banoffee pie yesterday. Delicious!
DD tested positive for covid on Friday last week. Bounced back very quickly and was back to school Monday with no symptoms. DH tested positive Monday morning and has felt blooming awful for the last 3 days. I was hoping to escape. Not a chance. Tested positive today and symptoms slowly coming out this afternoon. Sigh. I hope it's milder than last time!!! *fingers crossed*February wins: Theatre tickets11 -
@Euronorris - I too finally came down with Covid. Hope yours is a mild case and DH gets better soon also. I'll keep my eyes crossed as well - old Kentucky saying. Hugs.10

Hope everyone who tested positive for covid only has a mild case and they get over it quickly.. I'm just recovering from it, I tested positive on the 14th but I was still showing a faint line this morning. Does anyone know how long it is after you've recovered before you can have your covid booster?8

DD2 has had a rotten cold for a week and finally tested positive this afternoon. Her school are keen for her to attend but she will not be. If well she will do work from home instead. I'm hoping the jab I had last week will help to fend it off or at least keep it mild. DS has still never had it and DD1 is desperate to not get it as its her birthday celebrations this Friday.
I have a few random things to use up like you @yorklass from the lockdown purchases. Need to have a proper sort out of it thoughMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19
