I’m pleased to read the supermarkets are being investigated regarding pricing. It does feel they are taking advantage. Some items have more than doubled in price in less than a year.Another poster mentioned on the previous page with Tesco. Yes they’ve brought down the price of bread, milk and butter but 1/3 of my items due tomorrow and that I had delivered last week have increased in price.:money::rotfl::T8

We actually covered over our veggie patch last yearFor years we had chickens and some sort of veggies, only here in NI we have a very short growing window, and as they say, see what the farmers grow and follow suit. Up here its spuds, carrots and grass
Seriously no luck with growing veg at all. A lot of hard work for maybe a couple of pounds of spuds and carrots, the odd cabbage , and all cheaper to buy.
What airlines are charging for a cabin bag now - ridiculous. We come over to England a lot, we use a day back pack each - 10 litres.I refuse to pay for luggage, A few years ago I flew into Liverpool to see a show, Mr L was working in London so got the train down. The stewardess was totally amazed that all I was carrying was a vanity case - change of undies, two tops, pair of shoes and my straighteners and toothbrush and toothpaste. Hotel had a hairdryer and toiletries, one pair of jeans I was wearing - job a goodun. A ten litre back pack holds a hell of a lot if packed properly15 -
Pepsi max 24pks are 2pks for £12 on tesco clubcard offer for this week. This is the cheapest I've seen it for quite a while. I don't drink it myself but keep a look out for it for my DD. She usually buys it from costco but tesco is nearer so saves on petrol.7

Finally - a month late - I've received a letter for my final salary pension increase for the current year - not by post, but online. Luckily, I could remember my login details. They did apologise for the delay but there's no explanation as to why it's late. Maybe it's because they're switching over to paperless which I'm OK with since it means less paperwork for me to store but I hope next year will be a bit more timely.
@London_1 - Your comment about having left overs on a shelf in the fridge at eye level made me smile. I bet like me you're on the vertically challenged side! That can be useful when shopping as it's easier to see what's on the bottom shelf - but a bit harder for the top shelves, especially when eyesight isn't quite as good as it used to be.And I usually have to commandeer a bit of help since I can't reach. Fortunately, most of the young chaps in stores are tall and happy to oblige.
Fish pie tonight - a large basa fillet, thinly sliced leeks and mushrooms poached in milk (milk used for a mustard sauce), topped with mashed potato and a sprinkling of breadcrumbs on top for a crunchy texture, with peas and sweetcorn. Afters can be apple and custard and we'll have the rest of the custard tomorrow with some tinned fruit.
Last night I finished another cardigan I've been knitting - it's been waiting for ages to be sewn up - so that's a bit more yarn stash used up. It's turned out so well I'll do another one in a different colour. I certainly won't be short of warm woollies next winter!Be kind to others and to yourself too.11 -
Have got planted multiple herbs ( that really saves cash) , tubs full of lettuce / rocket etc. lots of beans and some spuds planted. Other stuff like chard & beets- we’ll get some. Going to have to buy some toms and chilli plants early ones died… perennial fruits are the best!"Is it that the future is so uncertain, the present so traumatic that we find the past so secure? My DD has some 'tumbling toms ' tomatoes in hanging baskets as she has three dogs that get the fed of their garden and they are doing really well. Her garden is mainly hanging baskets or big tubs as she has a Jack Russell, a Westie and a retired rescue gray hood who is a big daft lump that runs all over the place She bought some small pots that have hanging attachment to them and her fences have rows of plants veg and herbs all along them .Stops the loony dogs from trampling. When we move next year we will get some raised beds (waist high level ) to grow stuff in
She loves gardening but also adores her three silly mutts as well and the dogs win the lawn.
YorksLass yes I am not as tall or willowy I would like to be, sort of 5'3" wet throughand things high up defeat me.
How I ended up with a 5'8 DD and her four sons all are 6 footers I don't know, but then my late OH was 6'2'.
Today bless him he would have been 90 years old bless him, doesn't seem possible he's been gone nearly 20 years this year.
Youngest DD gave me a lovely plant pot of lilac flowers for my garden ,and my eldest DD came tonight and we had a cuppa, a really gorgeous doughnut from our local bakery and sat and nattered.
She is still doing my washing for me as with this blooming drain thing still attached I have a job bending and lifting anything. They are both good lasses though and take great care of their rackety old Mum bless them.
But fingers crossed perhaps when I see the consultant in a fortnight he may decided to remove it as its been in almost 5 months nowfingers crossed
Post services in my area of Kent are dreadful and if you see a post at all its a miracle, they are rarer than hens teeth
most stuff seems to arrive online now.
Right time for another cuppa and a watch of Corrie, daft storylines at the moment but its something to watch
Nightlight God Bless all here
