Aren't we supposed to be getting this thread back on topic...?
Cost of living and price of stuff.
Not chatting about family or discussing what is wrong with the way people cook/eat nowadays. 🤷2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Polly, where did you get your bargain bacon from, was it B&M?2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Crisps aren't cheap, they're convenient (and tasty). Those needing to cutback will already have reduced/cut out spending on things like crisps and chocolate. I'm not sure why anyone would assume otherwise.
Anyway, anyone seen any good food bargains this weekend/today? Or managed to grab a good yellow stickered item (or 3)?February wins: Theatre tickets6 -

I did sort through a few packs to get what looked the best.
Also worth looking in Tesco as they also do a cooking bacon pack, although I find that there seems to be quite a lot of smoked in their packs and we don't like smoked anything.6 -

Aldi have put the price of their hand cooked multi pack of crisps up to £1.49 for 6 (according to a different thread).

I've noticed a lot of folk food shopping in B&M, although my local one is having a re-jig & they've moved the freezers 🤷♀️2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

I really don't like Aldi or Lidl's own crisps. But my gosh £1.49 for 6 is quite pricey really. I guess because they are 'hand cooked' ones?
It will be spag bol for us tonight (from a previously made batch), as it's swimming lesson night which eats into evening time quite a lot. Spag bol is a nice quick option for us.
I saw that Sainsburys had reduced the price of their gala apples last weekend. Which I didn't see until AFTER I'd bought some in Aldi lolFebruary wins: Theatre tickets5 -
I think the 10% off groceries at Asda with the Blue Light Card finishes at the end of March. I shall be checking my store cupboard to see if there is anything which is going to run low.
We are just under budget of £30 a week for two on the March Grocery Challenge. Asda were slow at labelling the yellow stickered items on Saturday at the local store. We did get 6 rotisserie chicken legs for 36p and I saved the half a cup of dripping in the bag, stripped the meat, and made stock for soup with the bones.
People are not to blame if they have not had the opportunity to learn to cook. It is very sad. A lot of the cookery programmes are just for entertainment or they assume the viewer has a basic level of skill.7 -

Aldi hand cooked crisps are similar to Kettle crisps.
In Tesco, they are a whopping £1.95 for a pack of 5 (clubcard price £1.50).
In bolognaise, I sometimes use part beef and part pork mince.
Pork is cheaper.
Some restaurants we've been to in Greece use a mix of pork and beef for their meatballs, they're very tasty and a good texture.
I believe Aldi now sell packs of pork/beef mince but I bet you can do the mix cheaper yourself.
I cook a shepherds pie base using pork mince (or turkey or chicken).
I usually add mushrooms and sometimes courgettes if I get some YS or they are on offer.
I add a tin of chopped tomatoes and ground cumin & coriander & hot paprika to make it a bit spicier.
I usually have some mashed swede or carrot or parsnip or turnip (shockingly expensive now - I think they are an old-fashioned veg overtaken by swede which is much cheaper) in the freezer and the addition of that to the mashed potato topping is very nice (and healthy)8 -
I have a rack for holding wafer thin slices of potato to cook them in the microwave. It was from Woolworths which shows how old it is. It made interesting, fat and salt free crisps.
I make popcorn occasionally to add to a lunch box.8
