A forum friend in California was trying to dig her car from 8ft of snow to drive on the narrow bit of cleared road to the shop, having run out of milk, bread and other essentials.
Here 2 inches of snow brings the traffic to a standstill.6 -
No spending day here - decided that I don't need eggs this week - I used 6 in quiches that I made yesterday but still have plenty left.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Whilst we have lovely sun at the moment, it's jolly cold but there's no snow (yet) - due on Thursday. Tomorrow I'll shop for the few bits I need and will then be hibernating for a few days.
Beef curry and jacket spuds tonight, some kind of fishy meal tomorrow and a liver/bacon/onion casserole for Thursday.Be kind to others and to yourself too.7 -
Thankfully the weather here wasn't as bad as predicted, we had some sleet overnight and a smattering of snow this morning but the sun came out and the wind helped to dry the pavement so I managed to get to the pharmacy to pick up my monthly prescription this afternoon without the worry about falling over. It's supposed to be warmer tomorrow so hopefully I can get some grocery shopping done. We have snow due on Thursday too but only light if they've got it right. Hope it doesn't last long for everyone.

Predicted snow last night and tonight, but no signs as yet. Tonnes of rain last night, and it got up to 7c today and sun came out! It rarely snows here, so I doubt it actually will tonight.
In any case, did our big shop today so we are fully stocked. Also grabbed a few easter bits and a few little chocs to add to DD's Easter gift.
Picked her up from school to be told she started to feel unwell this afternoon and wasn't herself. Sure enough, her temp is up. Trying to figure out if it's another cold/flu like virus or another vomiting bug (both going round her class again). Poor little mite. Been one after another this winter.
I'm doing fake away subway for tea tonight. Making the bread rolls, cut all the trimmings chopped and ready, and once the bread rolls go in the oven, I'll pan fry the marinated chicken pieces (I just covered them in olive oil and smoked paprika).February wins: Theatre tickets7 -

It will do liver bacon & tomato casserole with some thick bacon misshapes from B&M with mash.
And what we call Turkish liver with tomato, potatoes, green pepper and chillies in one pot with tiger bread spread with proper butter.
And another meal that I've yet to decide on.8 -
MrsStepford said:My husband is a Kent native, I was born in Norfolk and spent my childhood and some of my adult life here. The village in which five generations of my husband's family lived was beyond our reach for rent or mortgage so we moved to the coast. Now, this town has a lot of Londoners and we have them as neighbours. They are full of when we lived in London anecdotes. Really sneery. Didn't shut up until we told them that we had both lived (separately) in London plus Toronto, Miami, Barbados and Jamaica. (Husband is very well travelled). So yes we were pushed out of our home environment and now we want to move.
My uncle and aunt and one of husbands sisters made it to France pre Brexit. We had hoped to do the same when we retire. Husband's paternal great grandfather was Scottish and he's part of a clan. So we thought Scotland.
I found a Highland town mentioned in a crime detective novel. Small and remote but has a station, buses, two supermarkets, two discount stores, hospital, independent shops including butchers and hardware stores etc. Close to a tourist area but nothing I'd call really touristy in it.
I've been looking at property prices and a large traditional stone house with six bedrooms is £145k and a Georgian terraced stone house with four bedrooms and a South facing garden is £160k. I've seen terraced houses with garage, garden, three bedrooms for £90k. All of them stay in the market for ages. The six bedroom place has been up for sale for nearly two years. None of them have been snapped up quickly. Maybe it's not near enough to the tourist area, not cute enough or something.
I won't be told where I can live LOL. I'm happy to learn Doric via Open University and wear my husband's tartanLove living in a village in the country side5 -
@Pollycat - I'm not quite sure what you'd call mine as it will have in it lambs liver, onion, bits of bacon from a pack of cooking bacon, half a tin of chopped tomatoes and a half each of red and green peppers! Whatever its name, it's always tasty.Be kind to others and to yourself too.5

And yes, it's always tasty.
I put worcestershire sauce in mine.
I paid £4.45 for the liver which will make 6 meals (3 each). I think that's pretty good value as the bacon only cost me £1.29 for 907 gm and it looks like it will do for bacon sarnis too.
It's a pity lots of people shy away from liver.
My Mum used to cook it very well done but we like it cooked lightly, as we do most meat and vegetables.9
