No spending here today. They needed 8 boxes of cornflour for kid's club tonight at SA - don't ask - craft involves glitter ! Has there been a shortage of cornflour as needed to visit 3 supermarkets before finding some.
There are prepper videos on YT and as soon as they say - there will be a shortage - there is - because people panic buy.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

I'm with you on this one!YoungBlueEyes said:Mmmmm dark choc cherry marzipan logs!! You've got me thinking now - I'm sure I could make some. You've got me thinking now - I'm sure I could make some.
Swings and roundabouts today. Second walk of the week to the pharmacy for repeat prescription meds - yes, they now have a new script for me but no, it's not all in stock. Aaargh! Not as bad as it sounds, they owe me one box. At least it was a dry day but chilly, so I'll be swapping my short jacket for a longer wool coat. I doubt the warmer temperatures will return soon. Indoors, I'm now wearing a long sleeved top under a wool gilet that I knitted last winter (have two others as well) from my yarn stash.
Carried on to the Co-op and struck it lucky on the ys section: parsnips (for parsnip & apple soup), mushrooms, a pack of jumbo cod fish fingers and a pot of stir-in smoked bacon & tomato pasta sauce. This last one is normally £2.25 that I wouldn't pay but 56p was much more appealing.
Stopped off at the Little Free Library, returned one book I'd read and borrowed another one to add to the winter reading pile.Be kind to others and to yourself too.7

True preppers have been prepping long term, so they have their contingency stocks in place. They don't need to rush out for the latest scarce thing. Sadly, the media churn out fear on a daily basis, so it's no wonder some people react to opportunistic influencers. Goodness, I found at least 3 more illnesses I 'might' have the symptoms for before breakfast today, and all I wanted was a run-down of the Autumn Statement!Florenceem said:.

I've never considered myself a 'prepper'.
But I do have an integral garage that I have a number of shelves with various tons, packets (in plastic containers).
I've always - since we bought the house 30 years ago - kept a good stock of stuff.
During COVID, we were fine because of our stocks.
I don't take any notice of who says there's a shortage.
I'm resourceful enough to find an alternative way.6

I never like marzipan until very recently, the last few years in fact. Stollen, nom....I couldn't find glace cherries in Lidl this week,so hadtog etthem from Tesco but I did see they had two pots of cherries, one in halves, one whole, they were both the same price and the same weight, so I cut out my midddle man [my chopping board and knife] and bought the halved ones [ I'm making Christmas cakes for presents] And blue bounties....
