Not to rehash that conversation, but I'm generally sceptical of large charities. However the Sally Army are a breed apart in my opinion, and if I've ever any money to spare the SA can have it. Or PDSA.Why does Sherlock Holmes love Mexican restaurants? Because they give him case ideas.13

I've been reading along, but only posted once. Being off-grid I knew I wouldn't receive the £400 that most households will get because of the energy price hike (even though oil for the generator that produces most of my electricity in winter has also increased in price dramatically). However, I've just received a letter from my local council to say that those in off-grid homes in my county will get a £400 payment. This is very unexpected and very welcome, especially as my washing machine 'died' this morning and looks to be beyond repair.GC Feb 25 - £225.54/£250 Mar £218.63/£24025

I wish someone would write a book with all the comments our parents come out with. Father was a beggar for not caring what people thought, and loved winding people up.
We were in the docs one day, and the nurse was taking his blood. She was a sour faced sort and was digging about looking for a vein like she was practising on a dummy. You'll have a bruise there tomorrow I'm afraid, she said, I hope you're not going anywhere special. Nah not since I gave up raving last year he said. You go to raves?! Well I did but who can afford horse these days he said. Totally straight-faced. He was 85 then. God but I miss him.Why does Sherlock Holmes love Mexican restaurants? I have read a bit about the budget and hopefully see more later on my computer. Times are going to be very tough and charities are struggling now as contributions fall as people have less available money. Everytime I woke in the night - the rain was lashing down and my thoughts went to D in his sleeping bag with wet clothes tucked in a shop doorway. Yes there were tramps or men of the road years ago but not this level of homeless.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

), it was dark and pouring with rain and we passed an elderly (probably wasn't that old) man with a red woolly hat, what we would have called a tramp in those days. I wanted my parents to pick him up and give him a lift. I was inconsolable when they said they didn't have room and i have never forgotten him, probably long since died but it really stayed with me.

Some of the current advertising is really quite laughable, a friend recently started working for Ann Summers.
Today, they are advertising due to popular demand and the cost of living they are bringing back a special offer. Spend £50 and get a free aphrodisiac!
Now, I know not everyone is struggling and some people can afford such frivolity; but I'm not sure in what universe marrying COL and such items from AS makes any sense or am I just being a little sensitive here?Make £2023 in 2023 (#36) £3479.30/£2023
