If she’s old enough to work surely she can sort it out herself and get an appropriate water bottle? If it’s cost her an £80 phone repair and maybe had bigger consequences that’s a learning experience for her to be more careful in the future surely? So not necessarily a bad thing. Only cos it seems like a lot for you to do!
I've done many household chores today including folding my husband's laundry up, also a job he could do himself, I just haven't posted about it. I mentioned the bag because there had been a discussion about water bottles sparked by me before because I said I found they had a tendency to leak. It was an accident likely caused by a different cap, no 'lesson to be learnt' than perhaps don't buy that brand again. I was tidying up and know full well that there's clear pouches in the house. I saw one only the other day. I was looking at it, it's me that hasn't put it somewhere I remember. I posted because I thought someone saying they could do with something but was going to look in the house for something they already owned rather than buy new even if it couldn't be found immediately was relevant to saving cash
I know you've said you hope this doesn't come across wrong but I do find there's a tendency for people to question whenever a parent does something thoughtful or practical for a teenager/young adult offspring with a 'why can't they do that themselves' in a way that doesn't exist in other relationships. From my point of view and I'm quite sure you didn't mean it this way, it makes me reluctant to ask for help when it involves daughter due to these type of responses. To give an example which wasn't on this site at all but a food group I'm on I asked for ideas for daughter tor snacks when she's on a lunch cover, because she gets no break then and commutes so is out of the house longer than most, but inbetween shows she can nibble on items in said bag (also a reason to keep this one because it;s so good for keeping all the items she needs together) and I got 'why can't she sought her own snacks out, she's old enough to be working'. I'd asked for ideas because she's vegetarian which rules certain items out, and needs to be quick snack things. If I'd posted for ideas about my husband who works away in the manner a lot of posters on there do I wouldn't get that response. It's also me or DH who go grocery shopping, frequently at a time when DD is at work.3 -

Are you suggesting that the warm air in the house will move into the loft? In my experience, the loft is way way hotter than the house.

Believe it or not, we've had hot air fall out of the loft when opening the hatch due to the air change in pressure or something!

We live in London often warmer here than the north so in winter they will be hit harder by higher bills.4 -
@Spendless I’m so sorry because I really didn’t mean to be rude, and clearly was. I more meant it from the context of - us mums are always rushing about doing things for kids (and husbands to be honest) and I do feel like it adds so much work to our days - rarely do dads do these things or maybe it’s my social circle - I often think we do more than we need to and should do a bit less. But I am sorry, as it’s none of my business and you didn’t ask for advice and it’s silly to comment when you don’t know the circumstances. You’ve reminded me to not give unwanted advice on forums which I sometimes forget!
Hope your daughter gets the bottle of her dreams or something which doesn’t leak!Part time working mum | Married in 2014 | DS born 2015 & DD born 2018

I also left out that DD suspects she may have ADHD where organisation *may" be an issue because she has no diagnosis and has to make the first steps herself to seek one - she also could be wrong, which was amongst but not my only reason for not saying it before.
But seriously there was no rushing round doing. The bag was emptied within a few minutes, and sprayed. I knew exactly where that mini spray was as I'd put it in the bathroom when tidying the other day, wondering about it's purpose. It was one I bought when the first lockdown was over DD was travelling to college and there was a lot of emphasis on wiping down everywhere, but was still loads left. After my first ,message, I thought about where we keep some mini toiletries that DH both collects and uses on trips away. I got a lavender guest soap and put it in a small organza bag. During the last message I also remembered where one of the see-through pouches were. DD was got in within the last ten mins I've shown her the soap to put in her bag and then I showed her the pouch and suggested her spill-able items go in there. Her reaction was and I quote 'genius'. So it wasn't something she'd have thought of herself
And we do have the culprit and it wasn't either the water bottle or the perfume. The phone repair man told DD, when he took the back off her phone to repair it, there was a pool of fluid that he identified as hand sanitiser. This turned out to be because there had been a spillage of hand sanitiser where DD had put her phone down (she can't have it in shows) and though it had been cleared up by the time she picked her phone back up it had worked itself inside.

Hello all
popping my head in here again. I can’t remember if I said last time we finally got our air fryer. It was on offer in Aldi €80 for a 5lr one and it’s the perfect size for us.I’ve done meat, fish, potatoes that kinda thing in it. Any other suggests gratefully received. A whole chicken is amazing in it!
it’s red hot here at the moment (I live in Mallorca) so struggling with my energy levels somewhat.:money::rotfl::T4 -
I love my air fryer too. I use it everyday now.
Re: water bottles, my husband got two free at work and we have been using them as the others leaked. My husband said he had to get a new bottle today and I asked if this one leaked too and he held it up to me and it had what looked like black mould around the bottom on the inside! I have the same bottle in pink and mine is fine. Gross!4 -
Re the loft hatch. Open it in the evening when it's slightly cooler and the hear will be sucked out. Shut it again before it gets warm in the morning. If you have a loft conversion, open the window. You need the draft for the air/heat exchange.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi5
