I wear Meindl hiking boots, after 10 years I had the sole replaced, and it's now 3 years later and they are still perfectly serviceable.

ETA and while my current boots are 6 years old & had new inners, the outsole is still going strong6 -
Regarding catalytic converter theft, I was told that hybrid cars are particularly desireable as targets as there is less wear on the cat which means they can get more for it.Make £2025 in 2025

He doesn't understand how thefts can be so rife as everything he buys in is dealt with by bank transfer as per regulation and sold through correct channels. It does make me angry that he spends £1000s a year on licenses and permits for others to act in this way. It appears to have just pushed the crime underground sadly as opposed to clamping down on it.💙💛 💔5 -
I thought I remembered something about new laws/regulations to stop thieves doing this. You can’t just take a sackful of cat converters/church roof lead to a yard and get cash any more. But it doesn’t seem to have stopped them…?I had a hen who could count her own eggs - she was a mathemachicken.3

Hello All
Currently sat inside hiding from the sun and quite impressed that today is the second day that I haven't had to take an extra nap from whatever bug it was that wiped me out.
Now Im sat watching a documentary about the heatwave of 1976 and listening to the influx of ladybirds that happened because plants/crops etc died and there was an infestation in the towns so they could feed. I didnt know they could bite!
Anyway muddling along here nicely. Managed to get a little harvest from my garden yesterday - carrots and peas with a few strawberries so it is definitely a learning curve for me but it is producing now which is making me happy but I do think I will step it up again next year.
On the subject of WATER BOTTLES - I dont know if its a small carry one that people were looking at but I brought a large water bottle that holds about 3ltrs and has a wide neck so ice and things can be added to it. From Amazon for about £9.99 but it has time increments to to help you monitor what you drink and it doesnt leak, has a lock and a handle and strap. Definitely recommend it - I have one for all of us so we always have water or diluted juice on hand.
Feeling the pinch - I think I am finally getting my husband on board. He is starting to notice things are going up and is being more careful about what hes doing and using as well which is nice.
Time to find me again7 -
That was the year I got married and guess what, it rained. Lol5

Bit of an update, the CCTV system isn't working. A potential culprit has been caught on video in a nearby car park doing the same thing. I can't provide further information as this may or may not be subject to criminal proceedings later down the line.
Some potentially legally interesting wording has come up though;
Vehicles are left at the owners risk and the council does not accept liability for any accident, loss or damage to vehicles or any contents however caused
That leaves the very open question of which owner. The owner of the car park? The owner of the car? The owner of my house? The owner of MSE?
I'd be willing to argue in court that the council is not the owner of the car park but the wording is so ambiguous that the owner of the car park (a big investment company) is accepting liability for accident, loss or damage. This would be because the owner of the car park has presumably put the sign there (or it's been put there with their full knowledge and permission).
A friend who is a lawyer (but not in the UK) has said that this line of attack may work but annoyingly there is no case law as nobody seems to have thought of this. I'm debating in my head at the moment whether it'd be worth giving a go as the damage is £1500-ish (including electrical re-wiring that will need to be done to make the car road legal again), so the fee would be £80, or £115 if it comes in slightly over. Ultimately I appreciate this isn't my decision but that of my father, however I am more legally minded.
I'll probably move this to its own thread later on, as I don't want to hijack the thread here any more than already.💙💛 💔5 -
