Reclaiming from Halifax from years ago….

I’m hoping someone can point me in the right direction really, around 10 years ago I had accounts with Halifax and was in a serious amount of financial trouble, i was constantly being charged for going over drafts and clearly couldn’t afford it, fast forward now and I’m debt free and my attitude towards debt has completely changed, however, I have been reading about the amount of people who have been claiming back off banks for charges to accounts, the only issue I have is I no longer have the account or the details from it, is it worth contacting Halifax anyway, or do you think I’m wasting my time?

99.9% they will time bar any complaint due to the time that has gone. You have 2 periods in law, 6 years from opening the account and 3 years from when you knew, or could reasonably have known that you had reason for complaint (closing the account triggers this clock ticking). Unfair charges complaints will also be dismissed using the 2009 court case win.
You could ask nicely for a retrospective hardship case and see what they say, I wouldn't hold out any hope of money but you might get lucky.1 -
