Taylor Wimpey Part exchange Bargain tips?

Options
I’m looking to do a part exchange with Taylor wimpey and they’ve given me a value 9% lower than the martlet value. I know that with the part exchange you are likely to loose between 5-20% on the market value but was wondering if anyone had any tips on bargaining for this or if I could get them to throw in anything for free?

  • If the market where you are is fairly buoyant, it might be worth speaking to a local EA to see if they could find a buyer who would be willing to wait for the completion of your build?

Even at a 5% discount on the open market it puts the OP in a better position to negotiate on the new house price too.

We part exchanged with David Wilson and got 90% of the open market value for our old house.

But we also got £10k deposit contribution, stamp duty paid, legal fees paid, moving costs contributions and free flooring throughout.

They would not move on the part exchange price but were more than willing to throw in other incentives to seal the deal.

But this was on a plot which was already completed and they just wanted it off their books. I suspect you will struggle to find this situation with the current market!

On what value are you talking?
    9% of £100k is a lit different to 9% of 500k.
