Cat scale and polish at £192. Is this the standard cost?

At my cat's last checkup the vet recommended a scale and polish for him as there was some tartar on his teeth. Really wish I'd done more research and brushed his teeth from a young age but at least now I know.
Does anyone know if this is a standard cost for this procedure? It seems expensive but prevention is better than cure. My former partner's cat needed a dental abcess removed at around 10 years old so I don't want to just leave it and not do anything.

Could it be because they have to aneasthetise the cat to be able to do it?

A quick google shows two vets with a fixed price of £250 and £289 pounds. It will depend on where in the country you are but in that basis your price seems reasonable.
However they can’t always tell until an animal is under anaesthetic whether any teeth need to come out or not, so I would suggest asking the question about any potential extra costs as a precaution. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.1
