Car leasing

I ordered a private lease car advertised as "in stock" and even have correspondence with the employee of the company confirming stock of this particular car was available to order, this was November 2021. My understanding of "in stock" is a pre built, existing car and not a factory order. Now at the end of January 2022 I have been informed that the car has not even been built yet! I feel very mislead and am now without a car! I'm due to return to work as a community nurse following maternity leave and obviously a car is essential for me! Looking at the contract if I am to cancel it I could face quite heavy cancellation fees! Can anyone give advice on what my rights are under these circumstances! Thank you I advance.

Funnily enough I am looking at leasing - your issue is my concern - as I don't have a car - they are saying that they have cars in stock - but of course it might all be rubbish.
Have you talked to the Lease company - did they commit to getting you a car by a certain date?
Could you hire a car for the short term - Avis do monthly deals

Your rights are those in the contract. You're way beyond any cooling off period. Perhaps the best thing you can do is see if you can negotiate to swap the deal to a car they physically have available?Barnetthannah said:I ordered a private lease car advertised as "in stock" and even have correspondence with the employee of the company confirming stock of this particular car was available to order, this was November 2021.
