Probate granted July 21, solicitor now in receipt of cheque from Jan 5th to finalise probate, straight forward no other beneficiaries or debts outstanding, but still no cheque received, solicitor not returning calls to update on case or even get a meeting, could really do with advise on what to don next

In writing, you may like to include that you do not wish to raise a formal complaint in this matter. Their ground may shudder a bit, but it can often result in prompt action as solicitors do not want formal complaints that may increase their insurance premiums against claims.
If you do not get a prompt response, then send a letter headed FORMAL COMPLAINT and their SRA will have to look into it if they dont sort it out quickly.I'm a retired IFA who specialised for many years in Inheritance Tax, Wills and Trusts.
