Renault Master Van Issue

Options
Morning

Looking for some advise as not a mechanic.
My charities van went in for its service and MOT and Evans Halshaw Renault found that it had a small oil leak at the Timing Belt Cover.  No problem with having a leak as had seen oil marks now and again when driving it.

They have quoted nearly £3500 to fix it.  Just over £910 for parts and the rest costs and VAT.  They quoted 12 hrs to fix it, stating that the whole engine has to be removed, repaired and replaced.

Now, the van is just out of warranty, but somehow Renault are willing to pay 75% costs, so we are just picking up £900 (ish).

My question is, does this seem excessive to you?

Without knowing what's being done then how can anyone comment?

But labour in the region of £155 an hour plus vat is high.

I would not get too involved in its it good value etc. If they’ve offered 75% by the sounds of it without much pushing from you. I would be pushing for 100% cost covered and happy to settle on anything above 75%. Is it just out of warranty could the fault of existed before the warranty expired? Is it under the mileage limit of the warranty? All to help your argument.
Then would EH Renault like to make a charity donation of £900 it’s tax deductible.
