Damaged flooring by deluvery driver

Hi
I had my fridge freezer delivered yesterday. The drivers have scratched my flooring. So upset gotbthe fridge freezer from outlet as I dont have much money.
I live on 2nd floor, the lovely young men (2) carried it up (35 steps). I was worried about them but they laughed and said they were fine. Then they took it through my oprn plan living room kitchen. They didn't unpacked just left.
I only noticed the scratched floors on hallway living room and kitchen. Didn't think about looking at the floor, was just happy to have fridge freezer.
The delivery company havd been good, the problem I have is finding someone to repair lament flooring, the scratches are long too and noticeable. I have to get 2 quotes but can't find anybody please xan anyone help me.
Thank you

  • You could always DIY it

Other than that find a local handyman or person to quote.

While I don't expect it, I am generally accepting that if I have other people in my house, whether it be friends, workmen, delivery men or whatever that they do not treat my house with the same respect as they treat their own and I will get some bumps and scrapes.  Amazon sell wax kits for about £10-15 that I have used to hide scratches on both a wooden and laminate flooring.
I don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!

They clearly are in the erong but first check the T&C as many have a clause excluding liability for damage caused during delivery.

Otherwise, find someone to quote for repair and then ask the merchant to pay it.

OP is there a local community facebook page? You could ask on there for recommendations.

Do you know where the laminate was bought from to be able to match it?

if you find one person to quote they may be able to get you a quote from someone else to satisfy the need for two quotes.

Try handy man/ self employed carpet fitters/joiners etc. rather than big firms.

  • Thank you for your replies. The company have asked me to send 2 quotes, but I've looked around and can't find anyone who repairs laminate flooring, wooden yes but not laminate. Unfortunately I'm unable to do it myself, so that is not an option. I'm so upset I know its only flooring but its all open plan and you can't miss it. I dont have much and my flooring is so lovely

Maybe look for a furniture restorer?

I put a hole (foot) in a very distinctive and discontinued laminate door once in a rental flat and a furniture guy managed to repair the hole and patch the surface to the inlay.

Just need to be sure they can replicate the finish (matt, gloss etc) and be durable enough.

I never heard of people repairing plastic flooring which cost about £1 per plank

Just get someone that fits laminate flooring, they will take out the damaged planks and fit new ones. I don't think you can repair laminate, just replace the damaged planks.
