  • I doubt they'll pay within 10 days anyways, we were hard hit by Arwen and it's taken them >6 weeks to process that and they are still making excuses.

The 10 day requirement does not apply to weather related compensation.

Lunch, wife driving to friends house to 'work from home', me doing the same, the "f'in" hour+ of crap I had to deal with to try to get to the bottom of this.

We live in the middle of nowhere.
So if you'd known the only difference would be the trying to find out why the leccy was off? We have regular short outages, we are rural so I use the phone to find out from western power if they know or not, report if not and get the answer otherwise.
  • I have just had notification pushed through my letterbox from my DNO (SPEN) advising me that my electricity may be off for up to 2 hours on the Tuesday next week whilst they make urgent adjustments to the supplied voltage. Like the poster above, we have outages about once every couple of months on average.
  • So, just to confirm. I need to have a landline, a standard non dect phone and then wait in a queue for 20 mins to find out about something they should have told me in the first place?

No... you just need to accept that if they get it wrong you are only going to get £30, everything else can be filed under 'stuff happens'.
If you cannot manage without a more resilient supply then there are solutions for that, but they are not cheap.
They can cut my power for 6 hours and I wouldn't even notice it had happened.

If I'd been hit by Arwen I'd have taken steps to make sure I was prepared for a future power cut.

Does your mobile not hold a charge then for longer than 6 hours?

It does, but no good when the 'local' EE tower is on the same supply as they just switched off

Our power goes off, 2 min later facebook is full off 'why isn't EE working posts'.
