Warm Home Discount

Hi there, hoping that I might be able to get some advice here please.

I was recently switched from Pure Planet to Shell Energy and unable to fully access my account until January 25th.  

Last Autumn, when with Pure Planet, I completed the Warm Home Discount application form.  Pure Planet then announced that they'd cease trading and that I'd have to re-apply for the discount scheme with my new energy supplier which I laterally found out was Shell.  I then tried to access my account and repeatedly received the webpage message stating that the account wasn't yet ready.

It was't until the 25th January that my account was accessible.  I then tried to apply for the discount only to find out that the scheme had closed the day before.

This was through no fault of mine, I complied with everything that Shell Energy asked me to do with patience while my account details were passed from Pure Planet.

Last year I did receive the Warm Home Discount payment whilst I was with Pure Planet.

    Unfortunately, as the deadline had passed when you tried to apply for WHD, you cannot submit an application.

    You could try appealing to their better nature, but feel this would not get you very far.  That's the trouble with broader group applications, if you miss the deadline, you sadly cannot apply.
  • Even if you do apply there’s no guarantee it’s not a guaranteed thing different suppliers also have different criteria. Sorry you missed out it’s certainly worth asking but they wouldn’t be obliged to unfortunately these processes take time, si you try and ring shell to apply? Before online account was up and
    running? There are various other options for help if you need it 
  • Thank you.  I've been calling, but with no luck although customer service have been nice.  It was my understanding that the scheme was open until the end of February.  You mentioned that there are other options for help, could you pass those on please?  Thank you
  • It will close when they have allocated their allocation. There’s loads of different paces to apply for help such as the British Gas energy trust, lions club, the household support grant t name a few.
