In hospital - remove default?

Options
Hi,

Newbie here! I was taken into hospital for 6 weeks in November through to Christmas, then was on bed-rest for a while due to effectively, a heart attack. I was unaware of being chased but didn't realize the bills weren't going out as they weren't DDs.

One lender has closed my account but is recalling it so I can pay it off with them. Can I get the defaults removed for my two credit cards?

Thanks!

Unfortunately probably not, as the default is technically correct, although it is always worth asking them anyway.

Unless you are planning on borrowing more, or getting a new mortgage in the next couple of years one default is far from the end of the world and even if you were there would be options.

Also, set up direct debits for the minimum just in case it is ever needed again as a second would be much more impactful. Not that I mean another heart attack, but forgetting being unable to get online etc. it is always worth having the direct debit as a safety net.

Thank you! I will ask, although it will be by writing to the CS team. I hadn't even realized (last thing on my mind at the time). This being said, with the stress that is caused, I imagine another heart attack is inevitable  :#

Closed an account after 6 weeks?  That seems extreme.

With proper treatment a second heart attack can certainly be avoided. A bit of advice though, if you have not already had it, is that you might find your short term memory is poor for the next few months. Three of my older relatives have had heart attacks, all had awful short term memory for 3-6 months after and that is very common, so when it comes to financial things make sure you have a list so nothing get missed until you are fully back up to speed.
