Hi, I have just received great service from amazon. A couple of weeks ago I bought an item from a marketplace seller (i.e. third party - a company not an individual) and they sent the wrong colour. It wasn't an expensive item but I asked if I could return it in exchange for the right colour. (For this particular item, it was an important feature). They agreed to a return.
I've never experienced such an awkward seller before. Although on their returns page there is a label to print out for Hermes, I was instructed that they don't pay postage in advance and I had to post the item back to them at my own expense then they would refund the whole amount. That's not what amazon instructs us to do. I contacted the company again but they just used the 'broken record' approach, which was annoying!
So I contacted amazon's customer service, had an online chat with a rep and they issued an immediate refund.
The seller and I both end up winners I guess but they live to be awkward another day. Oh well. At least amazon were able to help.
I'd advise anyone with similar problems to ask amazon to sort things out. It didn't take long and I'm getting my money back, even though the item wasn't from amazon but a marketplace (awkward) company. Amazon can afford it anyway.
I won't be giving that company a good review but I will be giving one . . .

I had a bad then good experience with Amazon just earlier this week ... I bought a pair of dog leads (the price was pertinent for a pair, and the photo showed two) but only one arrived. I raised a return request via my Amazon account (selecting Hermes drop off at the local garage) and dropped off the parcel. (I also raised a new order with a different seller to acquire 2x single dog leads - they arrived the next day). Within a day I had notification from Amazon of a refund for the original order.Jenni x0

As I live in a very rural area with few decent shops I shop a lot with Amazon. I started shopping with them about 10 years ago and rarely have to contact them about a problem.
I ordered a heating pad which suddenly stopped working. They apologised and sent me a replacement. This happened 3 times and on each occasion I got another replacement. I wondered if it were a design fault so sent it to the manufacturer who decided I had been using it incorrectly. I responded by saying I used it according to their instructions and somewhat tongue in cheek pointed out that I had managed to use a large amount of electrical equipment considerably more complicated when I did my Physics degree at the University of London (true). They kept quiet after that and sent the pad back that they had fixed. I told Amazon this and they refunded me the original cost which I thought was brilliant. The returned pad didn’t go wrong again but I bought another, different brand, with the refund money. Our elderly little cat now uses the other one on a low setting.
I must have bought well over 100 things with Amazon and only once never received an item. They apologised and couldn’t replace it as they were then out of stock and the refund was in my account 3 days later.

My husband and I have bought lots off Amazon over the years , as we lived 100 miles from the nearest large town.
Covid restrictions/ Lockdown similarly led to ordering online recently.
My husband got a fake device once from a seller. Amazon told him it was covered by the A-Z guarantee and to send it back. they refunded the money right away.
I had a delivery go to a depot 260 miles away. Despite this Hermes claimed it was out for delivery. I contacted Amzon and they immediately refunded my money.
I ordered another one and both orders arrived together- the original package in a rather bashed. I contacted Amzon who gave me a label to return it.
I have no complaints over their service.0
