So Energy worth fixing or not?

I am currently on So Energy’s so carrot essential v2 fixed tariff that ends at the end of March. I have been recommended a 2 year fixed tariff on the so guava 2 year fix. 


Would it be worth fixing on the new tariff or just wait and do nothing until we know the new prices?. Your thoughts please?. Thanks.


So Carrot Essential v2 

Unit rate - electricity 16.34p per kWh
Standing charge - electricity 22.05p per day
Unit rate - gas 2.86p per kWh
Standing charge - gas 22.05p per day
Start date 23 Mar 2021
End date 22 Mar 2022
Early exit fees 


So Guava Two Year 

Unit rate - electricity 33.43p per kWh
Standing charge - electricity 23.76p per day
Unit rate - gas 8.58p per kWh
Standing charge - gas 26.11p per day
Start date 23 Mar 2022
End date 22 Mar 2024
Early exit fees £40 per fuel

    Personally, I'd wait a couple of weeks until we know the April cap.

    I'd do nothing - whilst they may decide to do a 100% price increase which could come close to your 8.58p per kWh, they could also decide to "smooth out" the price increase over several years to help people budget.
  • It's the question that most of us are considering the answer to, I agree with the above, to me that new fix offer is high enough that I'd wait and see what happens.
