Ignore requests from the state trying to claw back pension overpayments after someone has died

Thank you for pointing this out. In light of this possibility I retract my criticism of DWP and am now feeling happier about the whole thing.tooldle said:I’m of the understanding, state pension could be paid in advance for some claimants. There were a number of changes starting in 2010 which brought payments schedules into line across a range of benefits. So, if the pensioner started their claim prior to 2010, there could be an advance payment element.1 -
Is this still the case as of now?

this is an old thread - you might want to be more specific in your question

As in the original topic of this thread, 'Ignore requests from the state....'
Is this still the case?

Why do you think it might not still be the case?

It is always best to ask questions if unsure. Rules, legislation etc may have changed since this was first posted. I'm sure any helpful person wouldn't mind providing an answer if they are aware of the latest position on the matter.
I'm sorry that I can't provide the correct answer but am also interested.

Context would be helpful.
e.g.
Is the new poster being asked to repay pension payments?
Is the state demanding repayment?
Or has joe public down't pub told them that this is no longer the case?

I'm not here to nitpick or debate. I and others like to keep abreast with the correct info in case it may be needed. Not everyone is in a healthy financial position, not everyone is up to date with financial rules, not everyone knows all the answers. Hence questions
EG are state pension payments made after death of the recipient, weekly,2 weekly or 4 weekly, required legally to be returned ?

Although these are treated as non-recoverable and are not enforceable by law, we can request the money back as a voluntary payment.
Unless there is no money in the estate, it just comes down to people moral outlook.

There you go - Google is your friend.
It's a question nobody needs to know the answer to unless you personally are in the position of being asked to repay pension payments after death.
I didn't know the answer when my Mum died and we received a letter requesting repayment.
But I found the answer when I needed to.
