Praise (and vent!)- Amazon...

Thought this worthy of both praise and a vent

I purchased a smart thermostat from Amazon Warehouse at the start of the week, and this was delivered today.
Looked in good shape, just no box.
The fun started when I actually tried to install the thing, two hours after delivery- Terminal error, confirmed dead by the manufacturer. Not a happy bunny, as this involved drilling holes in the wall to mount the backplate etc.
VENT: In other words, they've blatantly not checked it or the reason for return, and assumed that as it's cosmetically fine, it can go straight back out to the next unassuming mug minus box.....
PRAISE: After having a (minor) vent to the poor indian chap on the other end of the phone, they've refunded me the entire cost of a brand new one (over £100 more) as a goodwill gesture, as he was unable to raise a replacement due to it being warehouse.
Not expecting anywhere near this much generosity; £10 or so goodwill would have been fine.
To top it off, they don't even want the broken one back, so a brand new one instantly ordered from them.
That's good service

(If they did check things regarless of reason of return they would instead bin them as it would be cheaper than attempting reselling).Amazon are good though, especially if you are a regular customer. But as with anything if you did it too much they would just bad you (to save costs). So think twice before using warehouse again for such items.
