Business electricity comparison site

Our business electricity contract is up on 1st April and we are looking to do a price comparison to find the best price.
British Gas are trying to put our price up from 19p per kwh to 40p per kwh.

I don't think this exists for business users, but we use a utility broker - we're a small charity, found them via umbrella body.

Word of warning, some charge commission, some will sign you up for a contract even if you're still in contract then charge you commission of your current supplier refuses the transfer.

Another word of warning, once brokers get you on their list, you may receive weekly calls from different brokers desperate for your business and prepared to bend the truth to get it.

And that increase may well be the best you can do. Have you not heard about the recent astronomical rise in energy prices?

Hi Stuart, I have exactly the same dilemma with British Gas, did you get anywhere finding a better price?  I get fed up of using the comparison sites, as soon as you put details in, every energy company in the world start calling!
  • Our buisness standing daily charge will change from 71p on 1st August 2022 to (I literally cant get my head round it) , to £34 a day with British Gas , other company’s quoting £44.00 per day . Who can I turn too and how can they implement this horrendous amount .

Maybe try the comparison sites I quoted above?

So I am in same boat was paying 14.05 kWh/29.38 standing charge the best I can now get is 36.81 kWh/80.39 standing charge

But should I fix or go variable. I would pay a little more on a variable of course 39kWh ish but they keep saying these prices will go up another 60% but I think this will be for the capped household bills. I am hoping these prices will not go up much more. Obviously its a gamble on my part but just wondering what people smarter than me might suggest.

But if they did go up 60% they would be very few businesses left in a few years.

We use a broker at work and their advice is fix if you can. Fixes for business are getting more difficult to find, they say, with some suppliers no longer offering them.

    Thanks for the reply....

Its interesting as the first post in this thread was Jan 2022 and the price offered was 40kWh so the price has not changed much. Then when I speak to somebody they say prices are going up next week so better fix now.

So if they go up another 60% then they would be over 60kWh, which is a massive increase from the 14.05kWh I was paying.
  • Prices did go up! so the best I can see now is 50kwh
