Business/Commercial Electricity rates

Hello,

We are a business and therefor not covered by the energy cap, however we receive our electric bill from our landlord, therefore have no options to change supplier.

Our landlord has obviously increased their unit charge to us recently, however we have no way of fact checking to see if the rates we are being charged are in-line with industry or other suppliers.

Would anyone know what the very rough rates were for November and December last year? As an example we were charged 55p/kWh for November and 36p/Kwh for Decembers bills. Seems very high to me (November) but like I say I have no way of knowing.

Any help appreciated!

There is no simple answer as there is no price control on the resale of electricity for commercial use, and different business tariffs can have very different rates.
Those prices could be at cost to your landlord, or they could be 50% mark-up or more...
What does your lease say about the electricity cost and how it is controlled/calculated...

At the end of December I was quoted

    Gas

    Standing Charge: 2.03 £/day

    Unit Rate: 12.07 p/kWh

    Power

    Standing Charge: 75 p/day

    Unit Rate: 50.70 p/kWh

Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill
