Moving house

Hi all,

I am about to move into my first home on my own and I was wondering if anyone had advice on what to do with utilities given the current energy prices. For my gas and electric does Martin's "do nothing" approach apply here? Should I just stick with the current supplier (from the previous owners)? I assume these are out of contract rates.

  • I would get yourself in takeover the current supply and wait to see what happens when they announce the April cap in February.  In the meantime start taking a note of fixed price deals so you can spot the trend.  Stay awake to what is happening.
  • Hi,
when you move in you will be on a deemed contract with previous suppliers, you must contact them with meter readings, don't let them talk you into a fixed term deal, once set up you can switch if you find a better deal.

All the above, plus in all the  excitement of moving in remeber to take photos of the meter readings on moving day. It could save a lot of hassle in the future
