Unconfirmed address

Sold a DS Lite console tonight, specifically stated would only ship to confirmed address. Winning bidder has unconfirmed paypal address, have sent a message explaining I will ship to confirmed address. Now do I refund straight away and wait for him to resend payment via paypal? I imagine it will be for christmas present so time is of essence.

I know second highest bidder does not want item now, so if I am to relist item it needs to be quickly so any buyers can have it for christmas.

  • You'll need to refund as the status of the first payment won't change, whatever he does or doesn't do about his address.

Ask him to confirm the address and pay again, or pay by bank transfer.

If he is unwilling or unable to do either, open an unpaid item dispute. (DON'T offer him the option of backing out, only do this if there's no other way forward.)

    Thanks for reply.

Have issued refund, now must wait....

No response yet to message I sent via eBay.
  • Same thing happened to me recently with a laptop.

I refunded the buyer and he has informed me he will send me a cheque.

I will file a non bidding strike against him if I do not receive the cheque within 7 days.

There are far to many fraudulent buyers and sellers on ebay over Christmas, it has to be one of the worst periods to get conned.
  • Personally I would relist on a buy it now, if the buyer messes you around for a few days it will reduce your chances of getting the item shipped out for Xmas.

    Good Luck

    Wise words indeed.

Buyer responded and said he would get address confirmed, so I have waited for him. Now he has sent payment this morning and it is still showing address as unconfirmed. Again I have refunded him and offered bank transfer as option, he rejected that option previously. If no money later today I will start npb procedure, relist item and hope to get a new buyer.
  • I think that some people don't actually understand the difference between their address being 'confirmed' and 'unconfirmed' in their Paypal account. Very frustrating for the seller!
I may be shy, but that doesn't make me an angel ;)

You may well be right peggydoodaa, but in this case I didn't think the buyer was that stupid.
  • I have a big problem with my paypal address, for some reason I cannot get it confirmed. My living status has been thus: Boarding school (different addresses for the final 3 years- house names), university (different addresses for 3 years- halls then 2 different houses) and now I stay in London during the week and stay at my BF's at the weekend which is where most of my post goes. Any idea as to how to get my confirmed address at my BF's?
:D**Thanks to everyone on here for hints, tips and advice!**:D

    From paypal site, under help.

Here's how you can confirm your postal address:
    1. Add a credit card to your PayPal account. By adding a credit card to your account, PayPal can attempt to confirm your address with your credit card company. If the credit card company is not able to confirm your address, you may be asked to complete the Expanded Use Enrolment process to activate your credit card. Your address can be confirmed after that process is complete. Note: Not all credit card companies are able to confirm addresses.
    2. Apply for PayPal Buyer Credit. If approved, the address on your application will be a confirmed address.
    3. Complete Alternative Address Confirmation. This process takes several days and is only available for US accounts. To learn more, log in to your PayPal account and visit the Alternative Address Confirmation page.
