Iridium Energy (formerly PFP)

When PFP went into administration both duel fuel accounts were, I understand,  to be transferred to British Gas. On contacting British Gas recently, they informed me that they have the gas account covered but the electricity supply is with Iridium Energy! 

On investigation, Iridium Energy was the former name of PFP Energy back in 2014. So they’ve transferred the gas account under SoLR but kept the electricity without any prior notification. I’ve recently received an email from them stating we owe them electricity at 71p per unit!! No bill breakdown, no readings, no standing charge just a total of units with the above cost. Has anyone else heard of this company? On checking with companies house, there are only two employees.

That could be 2 more employees than many energy suppliers have/had.

Who have you been paying nfor your electricity?
Who's been sending you bills/statements?

Please post a copy of the last bill/statement you have regarding your electricity.

As a customer of PfP, you either had your energy supplied by
PFP ENERGY LIMITED (0899498)
formally known as PLACES FOR PEOPLE ENERGY LIMITED

or more probably
PFP ENERGY SUPPLIES LIMITED (09135694)
formally known as
PLACES FOR PEOPLE ENERGY SUPPLIES LIMITED
and before that
IRIDIUM ENERGY SUPPLY LIMITED

Both of the above companies are in administration.

Customers of either compnay were informed that British Gas, as the appointed SoLR, would take over the supply w.e.f. 11-Sep-2021

There is no company I can find registered with companies house who are currently known as 'Iridium Energy' or anything similar

Last DD payment was to PFP back in September. No payments taken since. It’s my 87yr old fathers account who isn’t tech savvy so I’m trying to get to the bottom of it. He’s not received any notification at all, no bills or statements. I contacted Iridium after my conversation with BG so they have my email. Last statement was from PFP in July last year showing a £138 credit.

Ok Thanks for your response. I’ll contact British Gas again as they originally informed me that it was Iridium Energy.

How did you contact Iridium?

When did your 87 year old father request to be supplied by PFP?
Can you post a copy of the welcome letter he would have been sent please?
(remove all personally identifiable information first)

You also say your father received a statement from PFP in July last year. Can you post a copy of that too please (again having first removed all personally identifiable information)

I was under Iridium, it was part of the reason British Gas didn't take over the electricity account and cancelled the takeover.  Forget about Iridium, you need to get on to British Gas and make sure they start the SOLR transfer asap.  Don't take no for as answer as the first responce will be to talk to Iridium. You need to point out that Iridium is another name for PFP and British Gas must take over the account as they are the SOLR.  You will pay the final bill (eventually) when it is sorted out for your supply upto the 10th Sept (or when ever pfp went bump).  And British Gas from the 11th Sept onwards as they became your supplier from the 11th Sept.

Who is listed as the electricity supplier to the property when you check online? Find out who your gas or electricity supplier is - Citizens Advice  71p per unit sounds like a non-domestic commercial supply rate.

I'd raise a complaint with British Gas stating there's been an erroneous transfer somewhere and you should have been SoLR'd to them for Electricity as well as Gas from 11/09/21.  Just go straight to complaint as it will hopefully get escalated to someone who can help rather than frontline customer service staff who might not even understand the query.  You can raise a complaint online via web chat, which might be preferable to holding in the telephone queue, and has the benefit you can keep a record of what's been said Make a complaint credit - British Gas
