Government grants for small businesses

Central  Government said that small businesses would receive help. We have 4 chalets and have been told various reasons why we cannot claim . We have been able to every other time . Other close councils are paying out but not Great Yarmouth .
Reasons we can't
Not open between 1st of November and 1st of March . We did the last time , we are still taking bookings.
Because Great Yarmouth Council don't have to include the chalets as there are so many of them .
Obviously i don't know a lot can local Councils pick and choose who they pay when central Government says its for local businesses.  Thank you

The only grants that are still open to claim are the ARG grants, but there were limited funds for these, most councils ran out well before everyone eligible was able to claim and many put restrictions on place to target the sectors most impacted.

Ours is being more selective over who can and can't. We was eligible in last same period but not now . It doesn't make sense.

They have limited funds, nowhere near enough to cover everyone, probably only enough for around 25-30% so they tightened the restrictions so that it targeted the sectors most impacted which was mostly pubs, bars and restaurants.

If you are not open between 01/11/2021 and 01/03/2022 how were you impacted by any of the Omicron measures in December and early January?
  • I can only give you the same reason we were eligible for the same dates as the year before , of which the local gave us . We would be still taking bookings , during this time . We yet again noticed a fall in bookings and people even cancelling again.

So by the sound of it you have not been directly impacted by the December mask and work from home mandate, it is just the secondary impact of reduced consumer confidence, which applies to pretty much every company in the country.

With the limited funds available it entirely makes sense that they limited the funds to only pubs, bars and restaurants, rather than businesses that do not operate at that time of year. Especially as you have not actually lost any revenue yet, there is more than enough time to fill the bookings for March onwards.
