E-ON>E-ON Next

Hi all, I was currently on a variable rate with E-on till April paying £118 pcm, on my phone app I could fix it for a year and pay £120 which I was debating but some reason Monday 24th they switch me to e-on next without my consent and with me enquiring about fixed rates they’re telling me it’s £240 pcm, is this right of them to switch me?

All E.ON customers are being switched to E.ON Next. It seems like your turn has come.

They didn’t need your permission as by signing up for a contract with E.oN you agreed to the following:

    1.6 Transferring the contract

We might transfer this contract to another company. If we do, it won't affect your rights to end the contract. We'll share your personal data with the company, so they can carry on supplying your energy.

E.oN Next was set up as an E.oN Group company to make use of a new billing platform - KRAKEN - developed by Octopus Technologies (part of the Octopus Energy Group). Initially, all NPower customers were moved to this platform when E.oN took over the company. Following the success of this new venture, E.oN made the business decision some months ago to switch all existing E.oN domestic customers to the new platform as well.

You will not have been disadvantaged by this change. The £240 pcm is just a calculation of what your future energy costs might be. That said, if I was you, I would sit with pen; paper and calculator and do my own calculations based on kWh/year and the proposed tariff prices.

  • Hi,
As an Igloo 'refugee' I was transferred to E.ON who, in all fairness, have kept the Igloo rates (perhaps they will seek an adjustment in due course) until the new rates apply on 1st April next..  Their electricity rate then increases from £0.20772/kWh to £0.29632 per kWh (43% increase) as was expected.  However their Standing Charge has increased from £0.23307per day to £0.29632 per day (27% increase) meaning that charge alone will be £108.16/year for my meter etc...!

Congratulations on your bargain standing charge, I can tell you're pleased with how cheap it is. Most people with variable tariffs will be paying much more than that from April.
