Bad credit in the past - mortgage

Options
So me and my partner found the dream flat, we had the 8% deposit and had the MIP agreed by Halifax and other lenders for what we wanted to borrow. We were so happy when our offer got accepted. Across all credit agencies my score comes up as “good” or “excellent” and on basic checks other than 1 missed payment 5.5 years ago, there doesn’t seem to be any alarm bells. I did however get into some money issues a number of years ago. I’ve ran a full check using check my file and I’m gutted to see there’s defaults and arreas from a number on lenders from about 5.5 years ago.

Is this game over? I’m absolutely gutted! My credit has been squeeky clean since then but It’s still on the extended credit checks.

Thanks In advance.
