In my wife's phone, she's getting a message saying that the SD card is corrupt. I took it out of her phone, put it in my laptop, and it's saying that the drive is empty.
However, when I right click on it, and click properties, it comes up with 13GB with 1GB still available.
But even further, I've connected my phone to my laptop, gone into DCIM and copied a pic from my phone to the SD card, and I can access it alright
So...........what's happening, or is wrong?
TIA
David.

Sorry, an Android phone, a Moto G8 Plus, when I took it out of her phone, it said that formatting the drive would destroy anything on it, and by the properties, there's 13GB on it.

Just get a new one and restore everything from your backup copy is the best solution.
You could attempt a repair of the SD card but given it has become corrupt it will likely do it again.1 -

Attempted a repair on my laptop, but couldn't do anything. Are pics stored on the SD card, backed up to Google?

Possibly , depends if you turned it on. You could try photorec/testdisk https://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/PhotoRec
