Worcester Greenstar overflow pipe dripping

The overflow pipe on my Worcester Greenstar boiler is constantly dripping ever since I noticed it at the weekend (don't know how long this has been going on for) The pressue is set at 1.5 bar and the heating is on for about 7 hourss a day. Is there something I can adjust?

There are two pipes coming from your boiler to the outside, the condensate pipe which tends to be plastic and the pressure relief outlet which is usually copper. Which one of these is dripping?
If the former then that's completely normal but if it's the latter then it looks like your pressure relief valve has gone off at some point and not able to fully close again leaving to a constant drip. This is quite a common problem with the PRV and quite often leads to a new one needing fitting, which can be a bit of a PITA in Greenstar boilers because of the way it's positioned at the back of the boiler in a very inaccessible place.3 -
Its the copper pipe. Is there anything I can do, adjust the settings?0

There's nothing you can do, it will continue to drip until it's either reset or more likely replaced, and importantly whatever caused the pressure to rise in the first place is fixed.Neutron808 said:Its the copper pipe. Is there anything I can do, adjust the settings?
The problem you've got is the PRV contains a rubber washer which more often than not doesn't get reseated properly again once it's gone off which is why the easiest fix is to simply replace it.2 -
Is it fiddly/big job for a plumber. How much do you think a plumber will charge to do this in Liverpoo?l0

Depends which model of Greenstar you have and whether can get access to the PRV without having to take the entire boiler off the wall to get to it. My dad had a PRV replaced a year ago on a Greenstar 37Cdi and the guy managed to switch it out in situe, I think he paid a little over £200 but that may have included a service too.Neutron808 said:Is it fiddly/big job for a plumber. The pressure will change depending on whether the system is hot or cold.Neutron808 said:The overflow pipe on my Worcester Greenstar boiler is constantly dripping ever since I noticed it at the weekend (don't know how long this has been going on for) The pressue is set at 1.5 bar and the heating is on for about 7 hourss a day. Are you having to keep topping up the pressure?
Has the filling loop valve been left partially open?
What is the cold pressure and what does it rise to 30-45 mins after being switched on?
neilmcl is not wrong to suspect the prv but it might be something else.Sorry I can't think of anything profound, clever or witty to write here.0
