Seems rather rash, even the SVR rate is going to be cheaper than fossil fuels. How long would your current supplier to install a SM?Rom70 said:I spoke to Octopus and they have a lead time of at least 6 months for fitting a Smart meter so I’ve had to contact the lease company and cancel my order

My current supplier who I ended up with after the original one went bust are not being very helpful, they just say they can’t tell me when they can fit one.Keep_pedalling said:

It's a long shot, but you could try using Chat on British Gas to get signed up Zero Fixed Oct 22 on E7. Fixed until 31 Oct 22, about 20p day, 10p night inc VAT, no standing charge, no exit fee. You may need several attempts because its status is uncertain: it's not definitely available but nor is it definitely withdrawn, but you only have to get lucky once. You could top up 21kWh each night (good for around 70 miles) from an existing 13A socket, even an analogue E7 meter would suffice.Imperative to keep transcripts (take a photo or screenshot in case the transcript doesn't arrive) so that you can escalate a complaint if the switch isn't initiated.2

I need less than 45 miles a day on week days, and minimal at weekends for 95% of the time. I’ll go and have a look but I’d still need them to fit me a smart mete. Hopefully their lead times are quicker than Octopus.Gerry1 said:It's a long shot, but you could try using Chat on British Gas to get signed up Zero Fixed Oct 22 on E7. Doesn't have to be smart, although that's probably what you'll get these days. As long as it's an E7 meter it will do the job if you are lucky enough to get Zero Fixed Oct 22 (see the separate thread). You don't even need the meter to do the circuit switching, you can organise that locally if necessary.Rom70 said:

I spoke to someone via chat and they said they don’t offer that tariff anymore. They did say they do a different E7 one and pointed me to their website to check the prices. I’ve been trying to view it on and off for around an hour and the page doesn’t load. I’ll try again in the morning.Gerry1 said:

thanks.Forget the website or phoning, it's Chat or bust. You have to keep trying with umpteen different agents, be prepared to work at it for a while until you get lucky.Have some boilerplate text ready to cut and paste.1
