MOT

Options
Went to book in my car for its mot yesterday as there is a lot of talk about delays in getting test dates.
Mine is due its mot in March but when I went to book it it said it was covered until August. I checked on the tax and mot checker website and this August date was showing there also. I have the mot and it is definitely showing a date in March as the expiry.
I have sent the dva an email to ask what the discrepancy was about (but they can take a while to reply) so I know when to book the mot for.
Just wondered if we are getting another exemption due to delays with testing and this is part of it.
Any one else have any dealings with this?

Hi, same has happened to us.  I emailed them and they came back and said it is the latest date - ours is July instead of February.

Just had another look - the email says until July at present.  Keeping themselves covered I suppose.

Just very weird that they haven't let anyone know officially. I am sure they are going to get lots of emails querying this.

I just went to book my MOT there. It's always been about 2 months ahead, but today it was 3, which means I'm going to be without a test for a month. Really annoying. The website seems to have been revamped so I wonder if its anything to do with that. Or maybe staff shortages due to covid.

Didn’t wait for the reminder letter, went ahead and booked and still will have 5 weeks without a certificate. To my mind I’ve done all and more that I’m required to do and the fact that I’ll be on the road without a current test certificate is due to their inefficiencies. I don’t intend to add their problems to mine!

Which site was that please? Ours is imminent.
I'm writing a book on plagiarism. It wasn't my idea.

I just checked here as well as the main site ticked mentioned ...
    https://vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk/

Just type in your reg number (or anyones for that matter) and it will say when it is taxed and mot'd till.

I can confirm there seems to be some fiddling with dates going on.
My MOT should be due by March, but the vehicle enquiry listing says it's covered until June.

So it sounds like they've been extending things on the quiet.

Yep same here we have two vehicles and both were MOT'd on the same day last January, one I got an appointment for this year and the other I couldn't as the MOT is not due until July 2022.
There was no notification about the extension.

Hi peeps, have you checked on the government website? Easy to do -

    https://www.gov.uk/check-mot-status

It's up to date and relevant and tells you when the MOT for your vehicle expires. Then you know what to do.   :)
