Collection only item - buyer wants to arrange courier

I am the seller.  Collection only item.  Buyer wants to arrange courier (hermes) and will send me label.
Am I asking for problems later?    Is there anything I should be aware of?   I haven't responded yet.
Thanks in advance.

Does it need packing? Collection only items normally sell for less. If you were happy to use couriers you could have included it in the listing maximising profits.

Is it an item that Hermes will insure?
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

There are a number of pitfalls, firstly will you be able to satisfy the managed payment requirement for either tracked post to the address given by eBay with proof of delivery available online or have buyer use the QR code to prove collection?

Are you happy to wrap and pack item sufficiently and to potentially wait in all day for courier?

However the good news is that if buyer returns item then they can’t claim the courier fees from you as you were never paid for them. I do tend to agree with Norman Castle though that if you were happy to safely pack and courier this item why didn’t you do that yourself and reach more buyers and make more money?

What is it (be vague-ish if you like but we need a good idea to give sound advice) and how much is it worth
Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End

You would IMO be better organising the courier yourself and charging the buyer but let us know what the item is and the value and we can advise further.

That is a very good point.  It does need packaging and I didn't fancy doing that so I listed it for collection.  If I am going to pack it, I might as well have included courier to start with!! Did not think clearly did I?

Thank you all for the useful info.   Will think it through before I do anything.  Your input is very much appreciated.

A vote from me to say no. At best the buyer is being very cheeky, but I think there's a decent chance that you're in line to get a "an empty box was sent" claim that then goes against you.

You sold at a price that worked for you if there was no further effort beyone opening the door and handing it to your buyer, but they now want it packed, sent, and for you to bear the risk if there's an argument about condition or arrival.

OP, dont feel obliged to agree to this. They should have asked before buying. It was sold as collection only so there will be no ebay penalty for saying no.
My P+P charges are at postal or courier costs, I accept I will have to put time and effort into packing items but thats by choice and paid for by the potentially higher sale price.
