Have just received this email from the mess that are the Post Office.
Are they getting in early and closing these £1 DDs accounts a few weeks early?
I haven't instigated this closure (or even accessed my account for months)

Is the account referenced one which you recognise, ie your linked account?veryintrigued said:Have just received this email from the mess that are the Post Office.

Have you asked them why they are closing an account which you have not asked to be closed?0 -
The linked account is indeed one I hold.
I won't be asking them.
They're terrible.
I hold (or held for years) other PO accounts for this DD thing.
Time to generate others0 -
They say that you asked them to close it - as per this sentence in your OP "We’ve closed your account ending ******** just as you asked us to."
All very strange. If you didn't ask them to close it, who did? But it sounds as if you're not bothered anyway so onward and upward. . .

Have you recently made a withdrawal? Did you accidentally click the 'make withdrawal and close the account' box next to the area where you enter the amount?0

Thanks for the reminder! I too have a number of accounts used for their DD`s. Is it expedient to do nothing and just let the DD mandate fail or should I be cancelling the DD at the bank end. Then after the DD`s have ended close all the accounts at the PO.

Were you contacted previously regarding the inactivity in your account? Doing nothing can be an affirmative.0

If one of the more recent of your accounts, the minimum balance is £50 and is in their terms to close it if you fall below..0

*Possible* fraud on your account perhaps maybe???
