How to play emerging/emerged markets without a fund

Hi All,
I have been investing for just over 1.5 years now having started with various commission free trading platforms to buy UK, EU and US stocks. However, I would like to get exposure to emerging and emerging markets. I have searched previous posts on this subjects and responses detail the various EM funds that are widely available and I will certainly buy into a couple of these funds. However, is anyone able to advise how to buy individual shares from UK for example in a firm listed on the Singapore Exchange as I believe I may do better than buying a fund. I have looked at numerous trading platforms including the larger brokers such as Hargreaves Lansdown and Vanguard but I can't seem to find any platform that offers this capability and would like to understand how this is achieved?

Interactive Brokers, De Giro. Possibly Saxo Bank? There might be others. The thing is they may only deal in the biggest companies listed there.FutureInvestor1 said:Hi All,

Try IG. They are a global operation.

Far from cheap though. No discount brokerage.

Saxo was mentioned but they should definitely be avoided. IG are an easier organisation to deal with but they load the spread on certain shares and overcharge to a ridiculous extent on certain products but are competitive on others. My opinion is that after investing for only a couple of years you should keep the vast majority of your funds in mainstream products and only put small amounts into anything that isn't offered on the HL, Vanguard and similar platforms.
Having said that, there's a bloke in the local pub who has contacts in Asia who might be able to help you. If you took the last sentence seriously, I don't know what to say.0 -
