Quick question- most car hire companies state you need to supply a driving license check code at the time of the rental, however the government website says you can only use the request form if you live in England, Scotland or Wales. Does anyone have an experience with this?

I got it for my rental in Liverpool last week, they didn't ask for it (it was with Avis)
Thanks for the info. Just out of interest how did you find the price for car hire for your Liverpool trip? Some of the prices I am getting either by going direct or by comparison sites seem very expensive.

I used a couple of comparison sites (holidayautos was one) and looked on the pages of the bigger firms direct. The only cheaper price I found was with a company I'd never heard of that was offsite (shuttle bus) from the airport and I didn't want the risk or the hassle so went with one I knew
