My son will be coming home from Australia for 3 weeks and will need a hire car.

Ideally we'd want to pick it up in Craigavon area, but we dont mind driving to pick up the right car at the right price.

Pricing at moment is coming it at £500+ although i've quote requests in with a couple of local dealers (Shelbourne Renault).

Anyone any suggestions as to where we could try?  Have tried all the big players.

    Have you tried enterprise rent-a-car?
Also getting a standalone zero excess insurance waiver policy rather than taking the car hire company's one will save money.
In my limited experience of hiring cars across the water anything around the £500 mark for 3 weeks is a reasonable quote.

Yes, i'd tried Enterprise and the other big players.

I'd heard of those and i'll definitely look in to them.

Shelbourne have come back with a quote of £390 for 3 weeks, but their excess insurance waver is very high to add on, so it would be good to have a cheaper alternative.

    Thank you :)

Have a look at point 6 on this around standalone car hire excess policies...

I am trying to book car hire for 4 days in Innsbruck - 19th to 23rd May.  When I looked last month it was around £150 but now it has doubled and is £300Is there any likelihood of it coming back down as we will have to change our travel plans.  We  are both in our 70's and require a car to get around but can't afford these prices

    Thank you

I'd imagine supply and demand coming in to play there.  You might have missed the boat....

Some of the dealers for Toyota and Ford also provide car rentals from their fleet. Very reasonably priced. Ford's link is https://www.ford.co.uk/shop/specialist-sales/rentals/personal. I don't seem to find Toyota's link any more. I hired one pre-covid period. I think some other dealers also offer similar services.

I had to book a one day rental from Liverpool airport this week, over £100 with little alternatives. Hertz has apparently not re-opened there, for now at least

Looking at hiring a car next month and it is definitely more expensive than the last time I did it - like everything else at the moment.
Quick question- most car hire companies state you need to supply a driving license check code at the time of the rental, however the government website says you can only use the request form if you live in England, Scotland or Wales. Does anyone have an experience with this?
