Sorting out probate from abroad

My dad passed away at the end of last year, he had moved abroad with my stepmum 8 years before his death. She is the sole beneficiary of his will, but she is struggling to deal with all of the paperwork. As some of my dad's assets are in the UK (private pension, state pension, savings account etc), is there any way I can help her to sort these out? Would I need to get power of attorney for my stepmum so that she could delegate this to me? Thanks for any advice!

You say your mum is the beneficiary - is she also the executor ? And where was the will drawn up (was there one for each country involved ?). Is she IT literate ? Perhaps one easy way for you to help out if she can give you the details is for you to draft letters to the relevant organisations the she only needed to print, sign and post ?

Forgot to add - are you sure probate is required ? Is there UK property involved ?

Yes my step mum is also the executor, but she's not very IT savvy and is a bit overwhelmed. The will was made in the UK, and I think the main parts of the estate held in the UK are his savings account and his private pension, that I'd like to help her to organise if possible. Drafting letters is a good idea, thanks!
