Do I need permission to move back door?

Hi there, do I need to get building regs/planning permission to remove an external door? I currently have a door leading straight into my kitchen on the side of the house (which acts as the "back" door), and I want to brick this up to remodel my kitchen. I have a conservatory with a door leading outside (which locks), and then an old style tilt-and-slide door between the conservatory and dining room (which doesn't lock). I want to replace this with better, lockable doors, so that I can use my conservatory as the back entrance to the house. The front door is staying the same.

Will I need regs for this? If I'm not changing the structure of the house at all, is this fine to just get done?

Thanks in advance!

The glass in your new doors will
need building control approval.  If you use a window company, they should register them with FENSA or CERTASS and this will suffice.

Bricking up your back door is fine, just make sure you insulate it.

  • Doozer is spot on . Fensa certass or assure
  • FENSA installers will know what the planning permission regulations are, so talking to them and working out what needs to happen is your best move!
