Air bricks should be brick sizes.
  • I realise that the picture in the opening post isn't overly sharp so it might not be showing up but I can't see any sign that there has been a damp course fitted.
  • Would that be a problem is a damp course was omitted?

It's the damp course that stops the moisture from the ground rising up through the brickwork
  • I did read on here that rising damp is a myth, or is that a myth.

Rising damp does exist, but now where near as common as many in the damp proofing industry would have you believe.
If you have soft porous brick sitting in a water logged ground, then there may well be some rising damp. Injecting chemicals at the base of the wall and slapping waterproof render on isn't going to fix it. Improving the drainage will help to reduce the effects, and perhaps rebuild the wall with a proper DPC if the bricks are starting to spall.

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.

Every house I have lived in has a DPC. It can’t be just a myth?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

It was this article I found on here they made me think.
