Hello, I have just purchased an LG 32lc56 tv and was wondering if anyone could advise me of the best way to setup the tv for optimum viewing pleasure. I use the tv to watch sky (not hd), an have also purchased a Wii. I have left the tv on it's standard factory settings. I just feel that better settings could be used, but I have no idea what I am doing.

Do you have a dvd player? DO you have any Pixar or Lucasfilm DVDs, such as monsters inc, or the incredibles?
If so, in the extras part of the DVD is a little known extra called THX optimizer
Use it to calibrate your TV to get a vastly improved viewing experience.
I am not saying that this is the perfect method, but it is an infinite improvement on trying to do it by eye alone0 -
If you only have a Sky box, I'd try and check out the various offers at the moment for getting Sky+. The difference is that a Sky box (usually) only has a composite out. A Sky+ box has s-video out ... which is a big improvement over normal composite.
A Sky+ box and s-video is as good as you'll get before you need to go to HD (or a homegrown computer solution like I use). I got a Sky+ box on eBay for about £40 and love it (despite not using any of the '+' features due to not having the right equipment on the dish).

Put the Sky box on AV1 and set it to operate in RGB mode and use medium contrast. In the picture settings, disable XD, set the temperature to warm and try 65 for contrast and 40-45 for brightness. If the whites look too glary, turn down the contrast. If you can't see enough detail in the blacks, up the brightness. Try 40 or less for sharpness and 40 for colour. Leave tint alone.0
